An army man returns

Janove from the Kaizers Orchestra is coming to Olsokdagene in Stiklestad - and he is looking forward to this year's opening concert in Borggården.

Previously, he was frontman and vocalist for Kaizers Orchestra, and one of Norway's absolute biggest artists. Janove is now successful as a solo artist. The tour last autumn showed a new and more stripped-down version of the artist we know through allsang and ompa.

Nevertheless, audiences flocked to consistently sold-out concerts, and the music was praised in various media. Now he is bringing the music to Stiklestad and the opening concert during the Olsok days, but it is not the first time he has visited the battlefield.

In the mid-90s, Janove Ottesen served part of his military service in Trøndelag. One day he saw a poster about a historical game that was looking for extras. Janove struck.
- It was a welcome break from military service, Janove says today. He became an army man in the historic "Olavsspelet", as he refers to it himself.

- I don't remember much, as it was well over 20 years ago, but I remember bits and pieces of the powerful music. A piece of it was very nice. Although I can't say that any of my music is inspired by this, I have taken the music with me somewhere in the back of my mind.

Love Trøndelag
Janove is very much looking forward to coming to Stiklestad, partly because he has always received a fantastic reception when he has visited Trøndelag.

- I am a big fan of Trøndelag and Trønders. It started with a sold-out Kaizers concert at Blæst in Trondheim. We didn't understand that it could be possible, we had never been there before. We had also never experienced the word sold out. It was very big. Since then I have always played in Trøndelag when I have been on tour. Both as a solo artist and with Kaizers. Both in Trondheim and at the Steinkjer Festival, he has experienced many great moments over the years. Now he is looking forward to visiting Stiklestad again, this time as an artist.
- It will be fun to come back to Stiklestad. Last time I had no lines, but this time you will probably hear my voice, concludes Janove.
