New exhibition at Roar Kjærnstad

Roar Kjærnstad works with painting, drawing and graphics. He starts from a figurative approach to painting, often with contemporary, recognizable motifs, but also with references back in time. Furthermore, the images are abstracted and deconstructed into a more moving, indistinct and sensuous motif. Kjærnstad is concerned with capturing movement, making abstract surfaces and color combinations meet the clear and recognisable. Through this, an atmosphere is painted, a fleeting moment from stories we don't know, but into which we get small insights.

Roar Kjærnstad (b. 1975 in Stange) and has a studio at Struperud School in Vallset, Hedmark. He has his education from the Royal Art Academy in Antwerp and the Nansen School in Lillehammer. He has had a number of exhibitions at home and abroad, including at Ålesund Art Association, Galleri Oxholm in Copenhagen, Galleri Ramfjord and Galleri Arctandria in Oslo. Kjærnstad is associated, among other things, with the Oslo Painting Club where he holds courses, and for the past two years has also been a course holder at the Mid-Nordic Art Festival at Sund Folkehøyskole, Inderøy.

The exhibition is presented by Nils Aas Kunstverksted.
