Create memories and watch the Game of Saint Olav at Stiklestad this summer!

The Saint Olav drama takes place in a time in Norway that was filled with drama and wars for royal power. A time when the Christianization of the country and the Viking conquests went hand in hand. The game about Saint Olav will take you
back to the Viking Age, and at the same time give you the experience that it is close, real and authentic. Even if you are not alone in the large open-air amphitheater, it will definitely feel like it, and don't be surprised if you are enchanted by the powerful music and action on the large outdoor stage.
Come and experience the magical atmosphere, whether you are captivated by the lessons of history, the fascination of Viking culture or just want to give the family a really exciting summer experience. We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate the Olsok days at Stiklestad.

The game

Since 1954, the Play about Saint Olav has been performed on historical grounds at Stiklestad in Trøndelag. This is the Nordic region's largest and oldest open-air theatre. With 200 actors on stage! Here, professional actors and musicians interact with skilled amateurs. It is with great joy and excitement that we can finally welcome back, after two years where the pandemic has caused cancellation.

The game is a dramatization of what happened at the farm Sul in the days before the battle at Stiklestad where Olav Haraldsson (later the Saint) fell. After Olav rode into the yard, life was never the same.

In the performance, we meet a Norway that is facing major changes that affect society, faith and the mind. The stories told in the game are about the big turning point; after Olav's fall, Norway as a kingdom is no longer questioned. The consequences of the battle at Stiklestad in 1030 are such that we will celebrate the national anniversary in 2030 - Norway for a thousand years.

You will experience being taken innine the world of the Vikings, feel the smell of the fire which for the Vikings was more useful than comfort, feel the wind from the horses whizzing past, see warriors in battle and be touched by dramatic music from the orchestra that sets the unique mood. Peer Perez Øian returns to direct. There will be powerful orchestral music and olsokkor, and a stage choreography that cannot be conveyed in words!

July 26, 2023, it breaks loose with the premiere!
