New Gudrun in the Play about Saint Olav
The Olsokdagene in Stiklestad is approaching and a month and a half before the premiere of Spelet om Heilag Olav, a newcomer has been announced among the main cast: Solveig Bergersen as Gudrun. Bergersen replaces Beate Mordal, who had to withdraw from the role due to pregnancy.
Solveig Bergersen is an opera singer, originally from Jæren and living in Stockholm. She got the role in competition with several others at an audition recently.
"Gudrun is a role that demands a lot from the person who will take on it. One must be both a very skilled singer and an actor. At the audition, it became clear that Solveig has both of these qualities. She is playful on stage, and has a strong presence that impresses. In addition, she is a very strong singer. We look forward to collaborating with Solveig at Stiklestad," says artistic director of Spelet om Heilag Olav, Nina Wester.
“We welcome Solveig Bergersen to the playing family as Gudrun,” says Ingegerd Eggen, museum director at Stiklestad National Cultural Center. She adds that “for safety reasons, the role of Gudrun is not compatible with pregnancy. We have had a good dialogue with Beate Mordal along the way, and are happy to have found a solution that will allow the audience to still meet her during the Olsok Days: as a soloist together with the Olsok Choir during the opening event in Stiklestad Church. We wish Beate all the best with the addition to her family!”
Biography Solveig Bergersen:
Soprano from Jæren living in Stockholm. Bachelor's degree in classical singing from the Norwegian Academy of Music in the spring (2020), completed the Opera program at Stockholm Konstnärliga Högskola 
(2023). Bergersen made her debut as an intern at the Royal Swedish Opera as Papagena in "Die Zauberflöte" in the fall of 2022. In the fall of 2023, she returned to the role of Papagena with Orkester Nord conducted by Martin Wåhlberg in Clermont-Ferrand, France. This later became a recording of "Die Zauberflöte" (2025) by the French publisher Apaté, and Bergersen received praise in Pizzicato.lu's review: "(…) Solveig Bergersen is a wonderful Papagena." Bergersen has also had soloist engagements at major concert halls in Norway, and Last summer she performed again in the favorite "The Magic Flute", and performed Pamina at Strömstad Opera. Upcoming projects include Folkoperan's Talent Program and the role of Aminta in Vivaldi's "Olympiaden" at Folkoperan in spring 2026.

The Saint Olav drama will be performed at Stiklestad on July 25, 26, 27 and 29, 2025. The play is the core of the Olsokdagene festival at Stiklestad which takes place July 24-29.
