New chairs in Stiklestad amphitheater - announcement of supplier
We are pleased to announce that Nopla Sport AS has been selected as the supplier for new chairs in Stiklestad amphitheater. The new seating in the amphitheater will be ready for the St. Olav's Game 2026!
“Stiklestad Amphitheater is a sub-project in Stiklestad for another 1000 years which is a large-scale effort to develop the place Stiklestad towards the National Jubilee 2030! "We are very happy that we will now be able to realize the first part of the development towards 2030 with chairs in the amphitheater already by the summer of 2026. This has been requested for several years by the game audience," says Terje Dahl, section manager for FDV at Stiklestad National Cultural Center.
Nopla Sport AS has been awarded the contract through a tender competition. They have brought Hanssen Mek Verksted from Verdal as a subcontractor. Three suppliers participated in the competition, which was assessed according to the following award criteria: Price (60%), execution (10%), environment (10%) and quality (20%).
Nopla Sport AS originated from Nopla AS, established in 1970 as one of Norway's leading manufacturers of recyclable, injection-molded plastic products. They have extensive experience in plastic design, development and production of office and conference chairs for, among others, HÅG (Flokk), Fora Form and NCP, as well as over 30 years of experience in supplying grandstand chairs. The majority of the components in the Seat4You chairs are produced at their own factory in Leksvik.

"We at Nopla Sport are very proud to be chosen as a supplier for the very exciting project at Stiklestad National Cultural Center. The fact that our newly designed chair has been chosen for the amphitheater at one of the most important cultural institutions in Norway is a big deal for us!" says Ole-Jacob Huuse, CEO of Nopla Sport AS.
"The existing concrete slab will be used, then a frame with chairs will be installed on top. A dark brown color has been chosen for the chairs, which will fit well with the natural surroundings at Stiklestad and which harmonizes with SNK's logo color. In total, there will be 8 fields and approximately 5000 seats. Stiklestad amphitheater is the largest open-air amphitheater in the Nordic region, and we hope that the upgraded seating comfort will contribute to making it an attractive arena to rent also for external organizers."
"Volunteering has been, and is, an incredibly important factor for Stiklestad and especially the Play of Saint Olav. In recent weekends, volunteers have removed existing benches in the amphitheater on a voluntary basis, so that the work with the new chairs can be installed during the first half of 2026," adds Terje Dahl.
In June, politicians in Verdal municipality made a decision to allocate 25 million to Stiklestad for another 1000 years, of which 5 million were earmarked for seating in the Stiklestad amphitheater.
Private individuals and other stakeholders can also help sponsor a chair in the new amphitheater with 1030 kroner. As a thank you, they will receive their name on a donation board in the amphitheater and digitally until 2030. They will also receive an invitation to an opening event when the new Stiklestad amphitheater is ready.

Our Story: Since the premiere of the Play in 1954, over 900.000 audiences have seen the "mother of all plays" at Stiklestad. Much has happened since the start, both scenically and sound-wise, the same with benches and seating comfort. The last renewal with backrests on the benches took place in 2002, which was well received by the audience. Upgrading seating comfort in the amphitheater was also a key recommendation in the study "A living play heritage at Stiklestad towards 2030" which was carried out by SNK/Museene Arven in 2023.
