AMATEUR ROLES IN THE PLAY ABOUT SAINT OLAF 2026 

 Vi and Verdal Teaterlag have conducted auditions for the Play of St. Olav 2026, and are pleased to announce this year's cast list for amateur actors. 

After an exciting weekend of auditions, a new artistic team has had the difficult job of selecting amateur roles, dancers and some singers for this year's performance.

In the local municipalities, there are an incredible number of people who pursue dance, theater and singing as their number one hobby. This resulted in another year of record registrations, with over 250 people registering to audition for dance and amateur roles.

It was a proud artistic director who could show the new team how high the level of amateur actors and dancers in the area is.

"The level of amateur actors and dancers is sky-high in Verdal, which makes it difficult to select those who will have speaking roles and dancers. But this year we have made a twist where everyone who does not get a place will be offered to join the ensemble, either as farm workers, soldiers or a gang of robbers. We cannot let go of all these dedicated and talented people," says artistic director Nina Wester.

Wester refers to the level of amateur actors when she explains changes in role assignments:

"Because the level of amateur actors in Verdal Teaterlag is so high, this year we wanted to give more people the chance to play bigger roles. The roles of Kvistadbonden and Arnljot Gelline will be played by an amateur actor for the first time, and it is Espen Hovdahl who will do both roles."
