DNB SAVINGS BANK FOUNDATION DONATES 10 MILLION TO "STIKLESTAD FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM"!
The DNB Savings Bank Foundation supports initiatives within among other things art, culture, local community activities and cultural heritage in Eastern Norway or of particular national value. Now they have decided to support "Stiklestad for a new millennium" with 10 millions!.

"Stiklestad for a New Thousand Years" is the Stiklestad National Cultural Center and the Arven Museums' local initiative on the occasion of the National Jubilee 2030. The project's overall ambition is to contribute to democratic preparedness by strengthening Stiklestad's role as a bridge-building meeting place characterized by knowledge and dialogue. This focus on the museums' democratic role in society was the core of SNK/MA's application to DNB. In addition, the application highlighted how SNK's major investment in traditional crafts is being incorporated into the project in connection with the construction of the new entrance area "Våpenhuset".
Director of Museene Arven, Heidi Anett Øvergård Beistad, says the grant is a great inspiration: "It is enormously gratifying that the DNB Savings Bank Foundation has chosen to support "Stiklestad for a new millennium" with a full 10 million. The gift is experienced as a powerful recognition of Stiklestad's national role, the project's professional qualities and the value of Museene Arven's explicit democratic ambition."
"Stiklestad for a New Thousand Years" includes both the reconstruction of the existing cultural center and landscape design. The core is a new main exhibition where the public will experience various representations of the battle in 1030, diverse stories about the symbolic place Stiklestad through a thousand years and of course: original objects. In addition, Borggården will be rebuilt into Borggårdsstua, a year-round multi-purpose arena with both a large and several small halls. A textile warehouse will also be established for the entire Museums of Arven. Upgrading the Stiklestad amphitheater, in collaboration with Verdal Municipality, and further development of Olavshaugen, in collaboration with the Norwegian Society for the Study of Ancient History, are also included in the project. The project's total budget is 420 million.
