OLSO DAYS AT STIKLESTAD 2026!
A play that thrilled both critics and audiences, an unforgettable meeting with the Stiklestad profile live from Beirut to Borggården, an Olsok exhibition that addressed the festival theme SOURCE with great force, a well-attended podium program and atmospheric cultural experiences for both young and old characterized the Olsok Days 2026.
"Our goal is to create a festival that is a colorful picture of the power Stiklestad carries and the uniqueness that arises in the meeting between thousand-year-old lines, the time we live in and the myriad of stories and actors who meet and create something together. We are therefore enormously proud to have hosted so many wise voices, including Stiklestad profile Yama Wolasmal, Olsok artist Brit Fuglevaag, Stiklestad Prize winner Tore Skeie and Minister of Children and Family Affairs Lene Vågslid. It was also incredibly nice that Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre visited Stiklestad and contributed to the book bath with Tore Skeie," says Heidi Anett Øvergård Beistad, director of Museene Arven.

This year's play was the third under Nina Wester's artistic direction. This year she brought with her director Maren Bjørseth, choreographer Magnus Myhr and musical director Torodd Wigum. "It is of course very gratifying that this year's play excites both the audience and critics. We are also incredibly proud of the enormous apparatus on, behind and under the stage that created a fantastic theatrical experience even under sometimes demanding weather conditions. Thanks to them, the mother of all plays once again showed the unique power she carries within her," says Øvergård Beistad.

“This year’s Olympic Days are the last with Borggården as the main hall before it is rebuilt for the National Jubilee 2030. It is therefore very pleasing that it has been full several times: during the lecture with Stiklestad profile Yama Wolasmal, the opening concert with Bjørn Eidsvåg and the traditional evening of singing,” says Ingegerd Eggen, museum manager at Stiklestad National Cultural Center. “The goal is to invite people to Borggårdsstua, a beautiful, new indoor concert, podium and conference arena, during the Olympic Days 2028.”
“Even though the Trønder summer has not shown its best side, tens of thousands of guests have enjoyed themselves at Stiklestad during this year's Olsok days. There have been many wool sweaters and a lot of rain gear to see, but the atmosphere among both actors and the audience has been incredibly good. And: it was a fantastic ending with sunshine and a folk festival on Olsok day”, says Eggen. A total of 11,000 spectators saw this year's edition of the Play about St. Olav. This is an increase of about 1000 from last year, which provides great inspiration for the work on the further development of the play towards 2030.
