The house consists of two old tent houses, originally built for the Nordenfjeld dragoon regiment. One was built in 1753 at the old rectory in Verdal, Øgla, the other was set up at Moan in Levanger.

Both tent houses were built of lumber. When they were moved for the last time and set up at Rinnleiret in 1881, they were linked together with trusses in the middle. The building was then also set on high stone piles so it was possible to get underneath with wagons to load from hatches in the floor.

Tent houses were military depots, they were used to store what was not personal equipment for the soldiers. That is why they were also preferably located at the military exis places.

The building is about 25 m long, 6,6 m wide and has three floors. Today, the marquee is used for exhibitions, on the first floor there is road history exhibition while the second and third floors are used for exhibitions about what happened during the Second World War in the village and the district.

Due to maintenance, the exhibition is temporarily closed.
