New king in the Game of Saint Olav
We are very pleased to announce that Nils Golberg Mulvik will play King Olav Haraldsson in The Game of St. Olav 2024!
At the same time that the news about the new king is announced, we also start ticket sales for next year's game. So you just have to be happy and start planning, whether you come from afar or belong to the local patriots who have to see the game every year. Tickets for the game are also an excellent Christmas gift idea!
Nils Golberg Mulvik (44) is currently an actor at the National Theatre in Oslo and has in recent years made a name for himself in the role of Peer in the critically acclaimed performance Peer Gynt in Fjæreheia. He comes from Sunndalsøra and has also played the lead role in Lady Arbuthnott for several years . Nils was one of the students from the first cohort to graduate from the theatre education in Verdal!
Artistic director, Nina Wester says the following about the new king:
"Director Ingrid Forthun and I have chosen Nils for this role because he has all the qualities we believe are important to be able to fulfill the role of the king. Nils is an actor with a broad register and a strong presence on stage. He has a lot of experience playing on large outdoor stages, which is a big advantage when you have to play the role of Olav Haraldsson at Stiklestad. In addition, he is a very good singer, which is also important in this role.
Nils has also directed several plays himself and therefore has a good knowledge of the format, and what it requires of an actor.
I myself worked with Nils at Nord-Trøndelag Teater in 2008 when we did Skråninga by Carl Frode Tiller. Even then it was clear that Nils was in a league of his own with his unique expression on stage. It is therefore very nice that we meet again precisely at Stiklestad where we both started our professional theatre careers.

Nils Golberg Mulvik himself says:
“I'm really looking forward to experiencing the mother of all games. As an actor, I grew up with the play tradition and know how much voluntary work is behind such a production. I am looking forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with both volunteers and colleagues and showing our Olav to the public in July 2024.
Of course, I remember Verdal well from my time as a theater student there! As a departure performance, we played "Det lengste kisset" by Jesper Halle. Specially written for us and Verdal with all the action taken from a turning point in Verdal's history. I also made my debut at Nord-Trøndelag Theatre, then in Stiklestad, the following summer with the lead role in "Skråninga" by Carl Frode Tiller. So now that ring is closed.”
Ingegerd Eggen, museum manager at Stiklestad National Cultural Centre, says: "We warmly welcome Nils Golberg Mulvik into the big gaming family at Stiklestad! He has already become a little familiar with the place and the royal costume in connection with photography here at Stiklestad.
In June, SNK and Museene Arven engaged Nina Wester as artistic director for the Play about Heilag Olav. A short time ago it was also announced that Ingrid Forthun is the new director and Torodd Wigum the new conductor. The artistic team is already looking at the script, dramaturgy and musical expression.
The play about Saint Olav will be performed on 25, 27, 28 and 29 July 2024. The play is the core of the Olsokdagene festival in Stiklestad, which takes place on 24-29 July
