Stiklestad for the new millennium: NCC awarded contract as general contractor

The board of Museene Arven has awarded NCC Norge AS the assignment as contractor for the turnkey contract with collaboration for the museum and site development project "Stiklestad for a new millennium".
A competition has been held for a turnkey contract with interaction for the museum and site development project "Stiklestad for a new millennium". A prequalification process was carried out in the autumn of 2025. Prequalified bidders were then given the opportunity to submit bids. At the end of the bid deadline, the client received two very good bids from highly qualified bidders.
The offers have been assessed by a multidisciplinary procurement group consisting of representatives from SNK/MA and Spera AS. The offers were assessed according to the following award criteria: Price (50%), competence and experience (25%), task understanding and implementation (20%) and risk and opportunities (5%). The evaluation process has included negotiation meetings, as well as both group interviews and individual interviews with key individuals.
NCC Norge AS scored the best overall on the criteria. The Arven Museums are therefore now entering into a collaboration contract with NCC.

Eivind Svarva, department manager for NCC Building's Central Norway department, says the following about the project they are now entering: "NCC is very pleased to be awarded the collaboration contract for this project, together with our selected local and regional partners. This is an assignment that fits well with our organization, our expertise and our broad experience with collaboration, cultural buildings and complex purpose-built buildings. We look forward to starting the interaction with the client and our project team, and to developing the best solutions for a project that will bring Stiklestad further into the next thousand years."
As part of the collaboration strategy, NCC has consciously sought collaboration with local players to ensure local value creation, good execution power and the necessary local knowledge. Contract negotiations are underway with several players with local or regional roots, both in consulting and design disciplines, as well as technical disciplines and groundwork. Procurement of other supplies and services will be carried out later in the process, when the project's solutions and scope are more precisely defined.
Director of the Arven Museums, Heidi Anett Øvergård Beistad, describes the signing of the contract as a milestone on the road to 2030: "Choosing a contractor is naturally something that involves a lot of excitement, both internally and externally. We are therefore very grateful to have had two very good bidders with us and to have now landed on a contractor who responds very solidly to our criteria in addition to having a conscious strategy for collaboration with local actors. We look forward to the collaboration with NCC to realize "Stiklestad for a new millennium."
"Stiklestad for a New Thousand Years" is a large-scale museum initiative to further develop Stiklestad towards the National Jubilee in 2030. The goal of the project is to develop Stiklestad as an attraction, museum and meeting place and thus reach an even greater number of visitors from the local community, the region, Norway and the world. The project will contribute to democratic preparedness by strengthening Stiklestad's role as a bridge-building meeting place characterized by knowledge and dialogue. The Heart is an innovative main exhibition where the public will, among other things, experience various representations of the battle in 1030, diverse stories about the symbolic place Stiklestad through a thousand years and of course: original objects.
The interaction phase runs from April through September 2026. Construction is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026.
