IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE STIKLESTAD PROFILE 2026:
Live broadcast from Beirut to Borggården
Due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, Stiklestad profile Yama Wolasmal unfortunately prevented from visiting Stiklestad on July 25th. The result is et Unik event: a live broadcast from Beirut to Borggården!
On February 3, Stiklestad National Cultural Center/Museene Arven released the news that NRK's Middle East correspondent Yama Wolasmal is the Stiklestad Profile 2026. The interest in the profile has been extraordinary, which is reflected in an almost sold-out event in Borggården on July 25th.
The interest around Wolasmal due both to his unique qualities for knowledge-seeking, critical journalist and outstanding communicator, and the enormous topicality of the themes he works with. On Wednesday this week it became clear that this topicality has consequences for the Olsokdagene: due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, unfortunately Wolasmal prevented from leaving Beirut.
Both Wolasmal and Stiklestad National Cultural Center/Museums Arven are very sorry for this situation. The parties are also keen to still create a close and personal meeting w/ Wolasmal during the Olympic Games. Vi We are therefore offering a completely unique event: a live broadcast with Wolasmal, directly from Beirut to Borggården.
Director of the Arven Museums, Heidi Anett Øvergård Beistad, says the following about the situation: "I understand that many are disappointed by this news. We are too. At the same time, this is an important reminder of the unstable world situation we live in and not least: what it means to be a journalist who is supposed to ensure that knowledge about crisis situations reaches us all. When the situation became like this, I am enormously grateful that we together with Wolasmal can offer a live broadcast. I think it will be a powerful experience.”
Yama Wolasmal himself says: ""I am incredibly sorry that I will not be able to come to Stiklestad. I had really looked forward to giving the traditional speech during the Olsok Days. Fortunately, I will be able to do it LIVE from Beirut with the freshest impressions of the drama that is unfolding in the Middle East."
The transmission can only be experienced physical at Stiklestad on July 25th. It will not be available digitally. Tickets purchased for Wolasmals lecture used for the live broadcast.
